Oh the horror of it all! The issue of entering incorrect data on your Request for Livescan comes up quite often. Mostly when you discover the error and you want to have it corrected! You don’t want to have your background check held up – that could delay an exciting new opportunity or even worse, you could loose out on the most amazing opportunity of your lifetime.
An unhappy client recently reviewed us and said:
“Make sure you fill in the correct SS number”
“I mistakenly put in my husbands SS number and now will need to do the whole thing over again and pay doubly. Ugh!”
This happens. Unfortunately, once the information is entered into the system and submitted – it’s submitted. We cannot call the DOJ and request that they make a change. Keep in mind that the DOJ processed close to four million print requests in 2017!
In addition, every time we submit a set of prints on your behalf, we have to pay the DOJ/FBI for that record. If the prints need to be resent – well then there is another cost. And no, there is no discount – these are DOJ fees and as far as I know they are not handing out discounts to anyone!
But! If we make the mistake – we will make it right. We will reprint you and we will not charge you.
Directly from the DOJ: (see – even they say so…)
Question: What if I filled out the Live Scan form incorrectly?
Answer: Unfortunately, with the volume of fingerprint transactions submitted, the DOJ cannot correct most errors. In most cases, you will have to send the applicant to be fingerprinted again – as if it was the initial transaction. All fees will be charged again.
